The 2019 Joint Engineer Training Conference is headed to the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Fla., May 7-9, for three days of education, training, and networking. Drawing more than 1,800 attendees each year, representing the military, public, private and academic sectors, JETC is the premier forum for promoting collaboration in support of identifying and resolving national security infrastructure-related challenges.

Conference Highlights

The 2019 JETC offers something for everyone in the A/E/C profession. Learn more about the diverse array of technical and social events taking place this year in Tampa, Fla.

Keynote Speakers. JETC will feature Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer, and Jamie Clarke, an entrepreneur, adventurer and performance coach for the 2018 Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals. This year, the event also will welcome Lt. Gen. Giovanni Tuck, USAF, Director of Logistics, Joint Staff (J4), who will participate in the closing general session highlighting the state of contingency engineering.

Education Sessions. With more than 70 hours of education sessions across a diversity of topical tracks (Architecture & Engineering, Business, Energy & Sustainability, Environmental, Facility Management, Joint Engineering, International, Leadership, and Resilience & National Security), JETC offers an unmatched opportunity to boost your personal and professional growth. Attend sessions within your career field and earn continuing education credits, or discover something new that interests your future ambitions. Sessions are developed from a peer-reviewed call for presentations that attracts the very best subject matter experts from the A/E/C industry and joint engineering community.

State of Contingency Engineering. Hear from the Engineering Service Chiefs on the strategic areas they are focused on to support national security objectives, and learn how the A/E/C industry can best position itself to provide the capacity and capabilities required to help them meet their mission. Listen to an outbrief from this year’s TTEx on Overseas Contingency and Enduring Bases in Multi-Domain Operations.

2019 Table Top Exercise. SAME will host the fourth annual Table Top Exercise, featuring Overseas Contingency and Enduring Bases in Multi-Domain Operations. The TTEx will convene a wide range of industry and government expertise, including the Engineering Service Chiefs, and leadership from the Joint Staff and the Combatant Commands to discuss initiatives to standardize contingency basing construction and allocation guidance given recent policy changes and updates to the USAREUR Redbook and CENTCOM Sandbook theater-specific contingency basing publications.

Career Assistance Lounge. From credentialing advice to LinkedIn support, the JETC Career Assistance Lounge will include representatives from SAME’s Credentialing and Enlisted Committees, along with Strategic Partners focused on training, certification, and professional growth. Meet with organizations that are experienced in helping you reach your potential.

SOFWERX Technical Tour. Receive a briefing on the origins of SOFWERX (Special Operations Forces Works) and an overview of how the organization enables collaboration and innovation across a vast, non-traditional ecosystem. Become familiar with its Rapid Prototyping Workshop, Collaboration Space, and future DevOps environment. Attendees will receive the latest updates on current projects and areas of interest from U.S. Special Operations Command.

American Freedom Distillery Technical Tour. Co-founded by Mark Nutsch, Commander of the “Horse Soldiers,” American Freedom Distillery is an artisan distillery located in the Warehouse Arts District of St. Petersburg, Fla., that has designed its products based on how they are enjoyed. Learn how the distillery’s technical process sources the highest quality inputs at all stages of production and offers a heritage that is uniquely American.

Opening Reception at Armature Works. Meet with old friends and make new acquaintances to wrap up Day One at the 2019 JETC. Armature Works is a fully restored mixed-use building that breathes new life into the historic Tampa Heights neighborhood. Exhibit Hall Featuring the Innovation Theater. A strong industrial base is crucial to a ready and agile national defense. In the JETC Exhibit Hall, meet with decision-makers from firms throughout the A/E/C industry, establish connections, develop relationships, and help strengthen the engineering potential of the United States. Once again, the Exhibit Hall also will feature the Innovation Theater, where companies can showcase demonstrations of innovate products, services, and technology.

Society Leadership & Post Awards Luncheon. The 2019 will feature the annual Society Leadership & Post Awards Luncheon, recognizing excellence and dedication of SAME’s volunteer leaders across the globe. Celebrate the achievements of the Top Posts and Top Region, and learn how SAME’s Committees & Councils are supporting the A/E/C profession and joint engineering community.

Leader Development Program Introduction. SAME will introduce the inaugural class of the Society’s Leader Development Program. This national program, supported by the SAME Foundation, was established to identify and cultivate A/E/C leadership from within the membership and help fill a vital training gap within the industry.

Society Ball & Awards Gala. Network with friends and colleagues, walk the red carpet, and dine and dance with SAME members and invited guests at the 2018 Society Ball. This annual formal event also will recognize the achievements of the SAME Awards & Medal recipients, which will be presented during the evening.
